How we make a film
Seven steps, each with a gate: nothing moves on until it is checked and approved.
This is the process behind every Purrallax documentary.
Step 1: Research, then the claim check
Every film starts from primary sources: regulators, filings, museums, research papers. Each fact we say goes into a ledger with its source and how far it goes, and the script may not say more than that.
Step 2: Our own story and script
We decide the journey: one picture for the idea, one toy model, a cast. The script is ours, in short plain sentences, and every factual line is checked against the ledger again.
Step 3: Storyboard and stills
Every scene is planned, then drawn as a still and approved before anything moves. Real places and companies are never drawn: they are illustrated and labelled.
Step 4: Drawn from our own parts
Every character, vehicle and set is a part we designed, built in code and reused: no stock footage, no generated images.
Step 5: Narration, then animation
The narration is recorded from the finished script; then every scene is animated on its words, so things arrive exactly when they are named.
Step 6: Sound and music
Music and sound effects are made for the finished picture, never the other way round.
Step 7: Re-check, publish, correct
Just before a film goes out, the facts that can change are checked again. If we get something wrong later, we correct it in the open.
